Winter has come early

Yesterday, it was 90 degrees. When we woke up this morning it was 34 degrees. At 9:30am, light snow was falling.

Last night we used our propane powered furnace for the first time. It worked! We also stashed a couple of Noah's cold-weather sleeping bags into the camper, just in case, but we didn't need them.

We had a relaxed start to the day... lounging around the camper over coffee and breakfast, a little reading, a little catching up on social media, watching the snow fall. Noah and Susanna were back to work, as usual. Late in the morning, Rouse got busy on the kitchen floor. I sat in the warm camper and caught up on this blog.

It was a cold, wet, messy day. Temperatures remained steady throughout, in the mid-30s. It rained and snowed off and on all day, with heavier snow coming in the late afternoon. All in all, 1-3" of snow fell. Some of it did pile up on the cars and deck furniture - and the trees were lovely - but nothing accumulated on the roadways.

Eventually I made my way into the house, where I spent some time knitting a swatch for my next project.  I was thinking about doing something really time decadent - like putting together a jigsaw puzzle - when at 3:30pm Noah said that Susanna's help for the day had called out because of the weather. I drove right over to the kitchen and put in four hours helping to package and label the week's product.

By the time Noah and Rouse put the final piece of flooring in and Susanna arrived home, it was after 9:00pm. Lucky for us, there were plenty of delicious leftovers in the 'fridge, to be heated and eaten.
