Friday morning we broke camp at St. Vrains and towed the Little Guy to Noah and Susanna's house for the Labor Day weekend. We plugged our portable guest house into their house via a nice long, orange extension cord so we could have all the comforts of home. Noah and Susanna were busy with end-of-week work, so we spent the afternoon hanging out around the house and working on replacing the front screen door.
When everyone found themselves at a good stopping point, we packed a blanket, folding chairs, and a doggie crate for Henry Dog (just in case) in anticipation of a sunset dinner al fresco on "the Back Forty" at Acreage Ciderhouse & Eatery. Wow! What a setting!
Located atop a hill overlooking Boulder with an incredible western view of the Front Range, Acreage has created a "campsite" like set-up, to provide a socially-distanced, contactless, lawn party experience for groups of family / friends to enjoy. We were assigned to our own space, where we settled into a couple of house-provided Adirondack chairs, along with a couple of our own chairs.
Once settled into our space we scanned the posted URL code, perused the menu, and opened a tab via Noah's phone. With more than 20 ciders to choose from, plus... by the restaurant's own description... Basque-inspired comfort food, we had plenty of options. We each ordered our choice of cider and agreed upon lots of small plates to share family style. The contactless ordering with no physical menus necessitated by COVID-19 was very efficient.
A server brought our ciders and food out. As the sun set and the city lights came on, the cool of the night settled in. The cider was refreshing. The food was tasty. The view was stunning! What a lovely way to end the day.
