Traveling to Devil's Tower

We said our goodbyes and left Noah and Susanna at 12:45pm.

At 2:30pm we passed Cheyenne WY. The landscape had changed. There were lots of hills ... hills that looked like piles of dirt and rock, many flattened off at the top.

At 5:30pm we stopped in Lusk WY to gas up the vehicle and take a stretch break. It was here we realized that more than the landscape had changed. We had crossed into a different reality. While the state of Colorado had mandated the use of masks and people in the Denver / Boulder area seemed very conscientious of the need to follow social distancing protocol for the prevention of Covid-19, nobody was wearing a mask in Wyoming. We did... and we definitely stuck out.

Next available gas ... 81 miles. We were getting into some remote territory.

It was a long drive through lonesome land. Just as the sun was setting we got our first look at Devil's Tower. We traveled on to our camp site at the KOA Campground located at the base of Devil's Tower.

Here are a few "post cards" from the passenger seat:

hay bales in a field can be so picturesque

long train way over there

another long train

take a break and get out into the vastness

railroad tracks go on forever

Elk trophy in Lusk Wyoming
I could not stop looking at it

far out farm

first look at Devil's Tower
