We spent the morning sightseeing and shopping.
We visited the impressive
Buddha Dordenma statue, taking advantage of the flattering morning light. Opened in 2010, this statue is 177' tall, making for a commanding entry to the Thimphu valley. At its base is a beautifully ornate temple. Inside, there are 125,000 smaller statues of Buddha.
Afterwards, we visited a weaving studio where we saw craftswomen producing traditional Bhutanese cloth. The patterns were intricate and colorful.
After a buffet lunch, we collected our things at
Hotel Gakyil. This adventure had come to its end. We said 'good bye' to our new friends and went our separate ways. Happy travels until we meet again!
